A Conversation with Dr. Nancy Giunta & Austin Oswald
Here are the bios and publications of our guests:
Nancy Giunta (she/her) is an Associate Professor at the Silberman School of Social Work, where she is the Director of Silberman Aging, a Hartford Center of Excellence in Diverse Aging. Professor Giunta received her MSW and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MA in Gerontology from San Francisco State University. Her areas of expertise include aging/gerontology –home and community-based services, aging-friendly communities, LGBT aging, and caregiver support. Her practice revolves around program evaluation, inter-agency collaboration, and community-based participatory research. Professor Giunta teaches Social Work Practice Lab; Social Work Research Methods for Community Organizers; and Aging Policy. She is a John A. Hartford Faculty Scholar, and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

Austin Oswald (he/they) is a Social Welfare PhD candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center and a queer gerontologist whose research is committed to promoting queer, disability, and racial justice across the life course. Austin is a Doctoral Fellow at Silberman Aging: Hartford Center of Excellence in Diverse Aging and evaluates a national LGBTQ cultural sensitivity training program for aging services providers intended to improve their knowledge, attitudes, and skills working with LGBTQ older adults.
